PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE 16X20 2003

The new bridge over Townlake was my new magnet in the city. It offered new perspectives away from traffic. The shade under the spiraling ramp attracted busking musicians. I doubt that I will ever choose to live in another Texas city. I would like to revisit Austin and paint the many new waterfront features that have sprung up since my departure in 2011. This is an unusual painting for me. It offers wide, flat planes of calm. Usually, I adulterate those areas with frenetic marks to emphasize excitement. More often than not, those marks convey an altered state of consciousness.
