TOLEDO 20X16 1999

Toe-lay-doe, not Toe-lee-doe, I was corrected by a large, friendly, group of people. This beautiful city used to be the capital city of Spain. Confined by a high table of land and surrounded by gorges, Toledo is a naturally fortified city. During the day the sky filled with swallows, and by evening they surrendered their places to bats.
Exhausted from a day of work and exploring tomorrow's site, I retired to my modest pension. Discovering torturous bed springs, I covered them in canvas and paintings. I slept well.
