PALACE OF FINE ARTS 30X24 1997

Oldest profession in the world. Some say it is prostitution. I say it is being an artist and making marks. In that vein, I did this painting laying on my back. It was a challenge composing and rendering. My ego kept chanting, "no, no, no". This is a very popular location. I definitely felt on stage with butterflies and nerves. In the end I was pleased with the result. I love pieces that have no absolute orientation. The spectacular experience of painting here is you are underneath an acoustic dome. Musicians took turns performing. I heard quartets, flautists, Gregorian chants, and guitar players over the course of the painting. I even spent a couple of hours next door at the Exploratorium. It is fabulous place to, um, well, explore. You know, the "s" word, science.
