Funny thing happened as I left Los Angeles to return to Point Reyes. Someone gave me a magic brownie and I missed my turn. I was just out of Yosemite before I realized it. Not to disregard providence, I painted and camped. I love this painting. It reminds me how happenstance life is and that I should not eat pot and drive.

My work begins with a recognizable palette. The sky is blue, trees green, rocks sienna,...etc. Something shifts and I will paint the rocks red. The sky goes brown and the trees yellow in order to make a "correspondingly" rational landscape. It has to read. To paraphrase Picasso, my job is to convince you of the truthfulness of my lies.
