GUNS AND ROSES  @96X42  1994

This was a commissioned piece for my brother and sister in law. They admired a diptych I had done earlier and wanted some security on their stairwell. I always like contrasting imagery. I'll admit it is a prejudice to resist associating roses and police. This is something I am overcoming with age. It is most likely a product of growing up outlawed in a drug culture. It appears the war on drugs is changing. Where the police and the subculture were at odds, we are quickly becoming allies. We are not there yet and the political/social climate is a bit unstable. I remain hopeful. In the meantime I am buying futures in Visine.
