RAINIER NIGHT  30X24  1993

Pulled into Mount Rainier in the late afternoon to find the campground full except for some sites by the entry road. Never a good place to camp as cars and foot traffic are always passing by. I was excited to be here after watching this majestic mountain from a distance for two weeks. There was a full moon rising so I stretched a canvas to spend an evening overlooking a cascade and the summit. This happened to be next to the best campsite in the park occupied by a couple and a little girl, Brea. We chatted. They told me they reserved the site a year in advance. Brea was enthralled watching me work. They invited me for a trout dinner with campfire dinner rolls. It was amazing.
