NORTH CASCADE NATIONAL PARK  24X20  1993

These are beautiful mountains but it was not my favorite park. Much of the rivers are damned for water and power. There is an enormous electric infrastructure in this park and the roads are like highways. It may be the relatively young age of the park does not give it the grace and charm of some of her older sisters. To be fair, I had just left the Olympics and I was anxious to ascend Rainier. North Cascade was my path between points A and B. I am sure if I had taken more time and hiked further from the road, I would have loved this park just as the others.
