I was looking at an ad in Art Forum for a sale of Salvador Dali paintings. There were guards flanking the painting in the ad. At once I thought how stupid and how perfect. I also saw Alfred Hitchcock being interviewed by Tom Snyder. Hitch disclosed what scared him most, Policemen. These painting work very well architecturally on either side of an entrance. The cleaning crew would complain about them. They knew the paintings were there, but when they would see them out of the corners of their vision, the paintings would startle them.
