Here is another example where my personal taste is for the smaller(vertical) piece. In the 80s and early 90s, I felt compelled to work large. If you worked big then you must be a serious artist. Then I saw a show by Edouard Vuillard and fell in love with the intimate relationship he was able to achieve between viewer and work. I will still paint large when I feel a piece calls for it, but not to chase something that has nothing to do with art. Having had my say, I am rarely the best judge of what my audience responds to.
