This was an arduous painting to create because I sat on a fallen tree straddling the river. In 1991 I was 34 and could do such a thing. Today it would kill me. I wrecked my body and tailbone spending hours on logs, bricks, stairs, and hard ground. The sun would cross the sky as I sat in one place, literally cooking me. I did cover my head and body, drank a lot of fluids and did what I could to endure. I had a masochists love affair with nature. Sitting still brings things into focus that would otherwise be invisible. I have seen five mountain lions, countless bobcats, bear, moose, otter and several people.
