I have done many night paintings. I usually begin in the late afternoon getting my composition down. As the light fades, it becomes increasingly difficult to see color. I am red/green color blind, so I am working with only half the spectrum to begin with. I can see relationships. I just can't see the color. It is like unwrapping a surprise ball when I shine a flashlight on the canvas. Morning is always a revelation of my nights effort.
