CITY ISLAND 24x30  1987

Some of these paintings are stronger than others. Each one is a step to where I am today. The fantastic characteristic about each piece is they are personal recordings of how I spent that day. Here I sat for six or eight hours gazing across the Seine. From a backpack I painted eight paintings in about ten days.  I met people, drank volumes of expresso, ate delicious food and shared this experience with someone I loved. Some poor paintings produced exceptional experiences. Some great paintings were terrible experiences.
