Trouble In Paradise 24x20,66x54 acrylic 1984

I did two paintings of this subject. It is a hybrid of my landscape and psychic-scape paintings. The view is of the Guadalupe River and reflection. I was a “duck and cover” child. This was a program of preparing school children to survive a nuclear blast. It scared me more than comforted me. I would panick every time a plane would fly over head. Horrifying as it is, I find beauty in the mushroom cloud. These paintings juxtapose the horror of my imagination with the beauty before me.
