This painting was executed just outside the art annex in the East Texas heat. I was very excited by my departure from reality in this piece, though I was grounded by the surrounding landscape. I began to understand I could manipulate acrylic paint just as well as I could oil paint. Perhaps it is nostalgia or romanticism but I have fond memories of East Texas. Because it was a cultural desert, friends would gather to create, perform and entertain one another. The weather was severe, violent, terrifying and beautiful.
